My Resignation

My much delayed resignation has finally become a “fact”. Yes, I have resigned from my ex-firm as Assurance and Business Advisory Assistant Manager from Grant Thornton Malaysia (“GT”).

I joined GT on 1 October 2003 and leaved on 31 July 2008, all in all, I have spent about 4 years and 10 months in that firm. I still remembered the day I went for my interview and how I talked to the two interviewers. Images of the very first day I came to GT and seated by the receptionist desk waiting to be called in by the manager could still be evoked vividly from my mind. Many memories are still fresh.

Much appreciation is owed to this firm, for my career accession from an Audit Assistant all the way up to an Assistant Manager. Albeit much pressured from my superiors while I worked as a staff, people are nice and I like my works very much. Thinking back now, I sometime wonder how I managed to survive the long working hours from morning to another morning, especially the high concentration without any trifle entertainments. It is a 24/7/365 working style. However, I believe that the tough working environment has actually transformed me to be a better professional.

I was lucky or I should say I “am”. Great opportunities have been given to me to learn, from public listed companies across various industries to corporate exercises acting as reporting accountants in initial public offering exercises, acquisition exercises, special review, etc. Wide exposures have broadened my experiences and I reckoned that remain one of the key reasons why I stayed that long in GT even though I can left earlier to join a better firm. But I think that the opportunities are rare and if I don’t take a firm grip of it, it will slip away and I may not have the same chance again.

I have to mention that it was my second resignation in GT. The first resignation was tendered on 30 April 2007 due to unbearable work pressures. But my continuing extension has finally led me to withdraw my resignation on 30 September 2007 and joined back. The main reason for joining back is because of an interesting and challenging assignment in AIM listing exercises, but unfortunately the assignments was up in the air not long after I joined back and was ultimately abandoned. So I keep staying back and till I tendered second time on 30 April 2008 and served my two months notice and one month extension and finally I managed to left on 31 July 2008.

As usual, a farewell party was organized for me and I was required to give a simple speech. It was sweet. But my last day in the firm was not very relaxed and easy, far from my expectation, I still rushed high and low and here and there.

Finally, from my heartiest gratitude, I would like to thanks all those who has worked with me and wish all of you the best in your future undertaking.

忆香。。。 。。。 。。。

落花飘,
几点红白,
随风萧萧游;

忆君时,
一丝暖意,
此情水长流;

烛影摇红空相思,
也依依,
堪惆怅,

莫问明月问寒夜,
孤枕泪痕,

酒盈难醉愁更愁;
更添无聊,

只盼,

银霜红梅几许香。

What does life promise us?

As we raise this question, so come the answer... ... ...

Probably we can hardly recall how many times we raise this question. We always query about life that our curiosity has brought us to many answers that we asked. Life, is a big question. And how many of us believe that it contains many answer as well. I do. I believe that it has everything, it contains all the good, such has, joys, loves, gratitude, wealth, health, prosperity, etc... ... ... it also contains many other bad, such as, anger, frustration, illness, hatred, poverty, etc. Life, simply has too many things to offer us. It really depends what you want from it.

Since life contain both good and bad, life is full of "Paradox".

It must be paradoxical. Hence, whenever questions arises; answers must be there. When lack, limitation inflict anguishes on our life; abundance and prosperity are awaiting to come in to flush all the bads away.

We know also that, we have no control on all the things transpired around us. The only things we are able to control, is our mind. It is only we ourself that we are able to control. Therefore, that answer for problems we faced can only be resolved through ourself, since we only have control on ourself. Does it mean all answer lie within us?

Well, that is exactly what I believe.

Many of us try to fix the problems through external resources, we may not fix the problems sometimes. But when the problems is fixed, more problems arises. One by one, we just revolving around all these issues and problems that cause troubles to us.

I believe that, since we can only control ourself, the answer must be within us. But how do we summon all the goods to our life?

Then, we should ask ourself. What do we control actually? Our minds. Our thinking.

Yes, our mind and our thinking are what we can control. Hence, think good and then good will follow. Think bad and bad will follow.

How much sense does it make for us to think all the bad about ouself? How much sense does it make for us to spend all our energy on bad thought detrimental to us? Make sense, or not? You know the answer.

Hence, when you feel abundance, you will get abundance. When you feel love, you will get more love. And that, is exactly what life promise us. Of course, vice verse. As a result, rich get richer... ... ... The poor gets poorer.

Do not blame others, look inside and start ask yourself what you want. Focus on the good, focus on the best. Imagine what you can have, can do, can be. And believe in that. Faith, will bring you what you ask for.

In conclusion, can you see that life is full of "fun". What do you want, start think about it. As you are gonna get a lots of fun from there.

Enjoy. God bless us all.

还睡 还睡 ............

谁翻乐府凄凉曲,
风也萧萧,
雨也萧萧,
瘦尽灯花又一宵。

不知何事萦怀抱,
醒也无聊,
醉也无聊,
梦也何曾到谢桥。

Hong Kong Celebrity Sex Scandals

The recent Hong Kong celebrity sex scandal has gained substantial popularity and attention on the Internet. Quite a stir, it gains so much concern from the Asian Chinese community.

Personally, I sympathise those people involved in these sex scandal, but I just wonder why they don't realise that these recorded video clips may one day be leaked accidently to the public or fall into some villains' hand. I believe that these celebrities have been taught about that since their image worth more than many other things in entertainment industry. For whatever they do, I hope the public can leave them as it is because we should really respect others' private life. They are human being ultimately.

I have nothing much to say, I really pray for those female victim in this scandal.

无奈

Today, I have a bad day;
I know it is not good and I am not supposed to say that;
Still, I just want to shout that out... .... ...It just brought me back to the same situation I have when I tendered my resignation 9 months ago;

I feel.... .... .... demotivated by whatever negative messages my superior said to me;

pressured for the ever increasing workloads;

frustrated by the people problems;

weary by the tight / hectic working schedules and long working hours;

worst, work so hard / much, return never get proportionately to my contribution.

Once again, these devastating emotion just crushed my heart that I just hate it......

However, I will remember this feeling. So that I can work towards my personal goals in order for myself to run away from "THE HELL".

**************************************************************************************************
Later in the same day, I went to KLCC to listen to a symphony orchestra perfomance by Malaysia Philmornic Orchestra. It is a beautiful evening cause the MPO was giving the performance under the baton of MuHai Tang. One of the music they played, is the popular chinese "Festive Overture" composed by late chinese composer Mr Lee Huan Zi. I used to listen to this music 22,000 times (may be more) with my music lover friends during my secondary schooling time. We used to have a wonderful time together when I was in the Chinese Orchestra in my secondary shcool. We just approached music with a pure and innocent mind. Nothing more than that, and doing what we love and passionate about.

Just like MuHai Tang and all the other musician performed this evening, I believe, they are doing what they like. But, I am not. Every single day is a challenging day for me, my emotion and mood can swing from the top to the valley and shoot up to the sky again. It all depends my works.... .... .... When working in such environment, argument, disagreement, politics, people problems, are all unavoidable. And I am suprised that most of my collegues simply carried too much negative energy with them, many just complain, complain, complain, and complain. I just wonder how these things surrounded me can affect my mind actually. I almost can not remember how do I feel when I listen to a piece of music during my secondary school. I just lost it... ... ...

Day by day, I am becoming more and more melancholic... .... ... sometimes.

It takes a while for me to pull everything together. And I will remember all these bad feeling, so that it will reinforce my decision to realise my dream.

I will do that, and I will realise my dream.

Believe, or not?

How many of us hold an absolute trust and faith in our self that we can accomplish whatever goals that we want to achieve? Today, I have the great opportunity to attend the seminar by one of the most successful women from the States. One of the many powerful message conveyed by her is that we should maintain a positive mental attitude to believe that we can do it. We should believe that we are protected by the high spirits and maintain a positive energy whenever we are and whatever we do. In that way, we can use our positive energy to change many things.

It is important that we tell ourself "we can do it" consciously, otherwise our subconscious mind will ensure that we don't do it. It is also important we envision our own success frequently so that we can have that "Desire" and momentum/imperatives to get there. No wonder, Albert Einstein once say that "imagination is more important than knowledge".

Well, of course. It is never easy to get our dream materialised. But that is our challenge to be who we want to be and to ultimately become who we are. If we really want to do it, our faith will find the way otherwise we get only excuses.

Thanks Miriam that you have imbued so many powerful message in me. I truly hit by all things you say and I truly feel your positive energy that you carried. I hope you can share your wisdom and wealth with more people.

Buy Low, Sell High

Financial Management or Corporate Finance is one of the favorite subjects for those who study accounting and/or finance in university because that is how we, as a students, learn how to trade in a share market, how to make money, etc. One of the principle fascinated us is:- Buy Low Sell High, being that we trade the securities (shares) through buying the shares at its lower price and then sell at its higher price, which will result in a profit position. It sound so easy.

And yet, what happen? We still see people get their fortune flushed away overnight during whenever there is a massive market crash. And this happens many times, consistently, in many different place throughout the recent history that we can remember. The economic cycle has simply become shorter and shorter just as our living pace accelerates.

The so called "Buy Low", may sound a little bit misleading. I wonder if it is our "Kia Su mentality" (怕输心态) that intensify our price elasticity. Well, I acknowledge that life here is slightly tough, as a result we always waiting for "SALE" or "Value Buy".

But anyone who can relate the reason having a sale in a store to the reason why the stock price is low can find out how useless the "Buy Low" principle is. Obviously, when a company is offering sales on their products, it is likely that their products is obsolete (or defect, opps) or that they are not doing so well and hence stock clearing come in. When we link this to shares which has tumbled let say from RM50 to RM15, so what is the reason we are looking at here? Obviously I don't know because I am not an insider or an expert. However, doesn't this mean that this particular tumbling stock is, by its very own nature, a weak one? Why someone would wants to buy weak stocks since the probability of getting return / yield is lower............... I don't know why.

Worst, what kind of assurance we have to tell us that the stocks we purchased is at is lowest price and how do we know how far it can go up.

Do you know? I don’t know.
